Rates are based on the work

Depending on the service (and on deadlines, volume, etc.), standard BelEdit rates are €104–€130 per hour.

Value for money

I’m an experienced professional offering high-quality work. But I spent many years on the client side of the client/service provider equation so I know that for you, as a client, the quality of the final product isn’t the only consideration.

I know that you want value for money. And that the overall cost/benefit is more important than the hourly or daily rates. That means getting the job done:

  • quickly, with minimal hassle, to make your job easier
  • to a high standard, so it achieves your goals
  • within budget and feeling that it was worth the money
  • within deadlines, so you can move on to the next project.

How I keep the cost down

I aim to get it right first time, avoiding costly rounds of reviews and corrections. Most of my work is approved right from the first draft!

So… How much will it cost?

The big question!

  • Rates for more skilled work such as strategic consulting, web content creation or SEO copywriting are higher than for writing or proofreading simple documents.
  • Final costs may depend on factors such as the quality of the brief and source materials, how much research is needed, number of meetings, how many people give feedback and whether the brief changes mid-project.
  • Short texts can take comparatively longer to write than long ones. Reducing a text from 400 to 300 words without losing content takes ingenuity — and time!
  • Additional services (desktop publishing, web content input, website management, etc.) are charged at a flat rate of €104/hour.

  • Write a technical, 1,000-word magazine article: €550
  • Write a short (300 words) video script: €240
  • Proofread a position paper (2,000 words): €160
  • Edit a 3,000-word technical document: €650
  • Copyedit/proofread a recruitment ad: €60
  • Edit a 1-page press release: €160
  • Write a headline + 30 words for a poster: €100–€200
  • Create a communications strategy: from around €4,000
  • Create a basic website: from around €5,000 — including content!

Tips for delivering a money-saving brief

The better the brief, the better the end result. A little preparation goes a long way to save your time, my time and your money. When I get a brief, I’ll ask questions like these. If you don’t have all the answers, we can figure it out together.

The more you can tell me about your project, the more the final communication will help your business!

What's your business?

  • Who are you and what do you do? Where do you operate? Who are your clients?
  • What are your main business goals and challenges?
  • Which business goals or challenges are addressed by this project?

What's needed?

  • Why is this communication or information needed? What is the business need behind it? What’s new or what’s wrong?
  • What media will you use to publish this information?
  • What information is in scope/out of scope?
  • Who are the target audiences for this project?
  • What are the top 1-5 key messages you want people to take away from this communication?
  • What do you want people to do after they get this information?
  • What happens if this information doesn’t reach or isn’t acted on by its target audiences?
  • Will you use the information in English or translate it?

What do you have?

  • Is there a documented project description?
  • What documentation or information already exists on this topic?
  • Do you have a company style guide? Documentation about the company’s mission, brand or values?

When?

  • Is this a one-time or an on-going project?
  • When is this information needed? Is it connected to specific events or deadlines?
  • When will you be ready to hand over the source content?
  • When will deliverables be reviewed and feedback provided?
  • When is the final text required?

How?

  • How will we meet?
  • How will we exchange documents?
  • How will you review drafts and provide feedback?

Who?

  • Who will be my primary contacts in this project?
  • Who’s my speaking partner if I have questions about content?
  • Who will handle questions about visuals, links and other assets?
  • Who’s my contact if I have administrative questions?
  • Who will I deliver drafts to? Who will review drafts?
  • Who will approve/sign off the final deliverables?
  • Who is my contact regarding publishing or uploading the content?
